Country singer Jason Aldean made his first public appearance since the deadliest mass shooting in United States history.
On Saturday Night Live last night he said, “Like everyone, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night, and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal. But you can be sure that we’re going to walk through these tough times together…every step of the way, because when America is at it’s best, our bond and our spirit is unbreakable.”
Aldean was on stage at the Route 91 Country Music Festival when the shots first rang out.
He opened SNL with those remarks and then sang Tom Petty‘s “I Won’t Back Down.” Petty passed away the day after the deadly shooting.
