Song For Grenfell Tower Victims Released
Last week we told you Simon Cowell was working on a song for the victims of London’s Grenfell Tower Fire.
The song has just been released and is already climbing the charts. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Artists For Grenfell could actually hit number 1 by the end of the week.
The song was released yesterday morning and as of this morning already has 400,000 plays on Youtube and hundreds of thousands of downloads from iTunes.
A message from Simon on the song’s website (artistsforgrenfell.com) reads:
“Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in West London, the record industry came together to record a single for the victims of the disaster. Over 50 artists gave their time and support to make this happen. The song is ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’. This website has been built to create a donation page which, together with the money raised by the record, will hopefully encourage people to donate whatever they can to help those who have been affected by this terrible event. All donations made here will be used by The London Community Foundation to help those in need.”
The song is performed in part by James Blunt, Robbie Williams, Rita Ora, Craig David, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Leona Lewis, Jessie J, James Arthur and Geri Halliwell to name a few.
At least 79 people died in the massive blaze earlier this month. The search and recovery crews are still working to go through the ruins of the 24 story building.
