Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme has passed away this morning in New York after battling esophageal cancer.  He was 73. Demme directed movies like The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia and Beloved. His most recent studio film was Ricki and the Flash with Meryl Streep in 2015.
