Dick Van Dyke Praises The ‘Mary Poppins’ Sequel
The upcoming Mary Poppins sequel has Dick Van Dyke‘s blessing.
The now 91 year old star of the original movie will make a cameo in the new version.
After being on set in London, he thinks the new revival is going to be good.
The iconic actor said, “People say sequels don’t work, but the people behind it have their hearts in the right place. They insist it is not a sequel, it is an homage.”
Page Six reports Dick goes on to compliment the stars of the movie, including Emily Blunt, who plays Mary. He says, she is “quite good” and “sings well.”
Van Dyke adds that he was “impressed” by Lin-Manuel Miranda and his dancing skills.
Mary Poppins Returns is set to hit theaters next year, 53 years after the original.
