Demi Lovato is being honored for her work as a mental health advocate. The singer will be receiving the Artistic Award of Courage from UCLA’s Semel Institute at its Open Mind Gala later this month.

The award recognizes Demi for using her platform to “heroically” raise awareness and reduce stigma of mental illnesses. Demi has been open about her struggles with bipolar disorder.

The March 22 event will be hosted by actress Lisa Kudrow and will feature a performance by Chord Overstreet, who co-starred with Demi on Glee and is signed to her Safehouse record label with Nick Jonas.

In July of 2016, Lovato spoke at the Democratic National Convention about mental health awareness. She told the audience that we can all “do better” when it comes to providing health care for those suffering from mental illnesses.

The Open Mind Gala honors leaders in business, education, and entertainment for their work in advancing the fields of neuroscience and mental health.

Congrats, Demi!
