‘Lion King’ & ‘Benson’ Star, Robert Guillaume, Dead At 89

Robert Guillaume, best known for his role in the 1980’s television show Benson, has died.

Robert passed away today at his home in Los Angeles after a battle with prostate cancer.

In addition to his acting career, he was also the voice of Rafiki on Disney’s The Lion King and the first African-American to play to play the lead character in Phantom of the Opera.

He is survived by his second wife, TV producer Donna Brown Guillaume; a son and three daughters.

Guillaume was 89 years old.
