Sad news for country music fans.  A helicopter crash has claimed the life of Montgomery Gentry‘s Troy Gentry.  The other member of the group, Eddie Montgomery was not on board the helicopter at the time of the accident.

A post on Facebook and Twitter read, “It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular Country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash.”

The accident happened around 1 PM yesterday at Flying W Airport in Medford, New Jersey.  It is reported the helicopter was having mechanical issues in the minutes before the crash. No other details have been released.

Montgomery Gentry was scheduled to perform a concert at the airport last night, but that and future shows have been cancelled.  The pilot, 30 year old James Evan Robinson also passed away.
Troy Gentry was 50 years old.  Keep the family and friends of Troy in your thoughts during this difficult time.
