As we reported last week, Tom Wopat is facing indecent assault and cocaine possession charges in Massachusetts after incidents with women involved in the production of 42nd Street.
The former Dukes of Hazzard star denies doing anything illegal with those women, but he is admitting to possessing the drugs.
He’s hoping his “good name will be restored” after his team investigates the allegation he grabbed a woman’s buttocks. Wopat, who played Luke Duke on the ’80s show, says he’ll “take some personal time to address his ongoing struggle with substance abuse.”
A statement provided by his manager read, “While death and illness in the family, combined with the intensity of his recent schedule, certainly contributed to his misstep, Tom definitely understands that sobriety is the sole course for a successful future and will take immediate steps to achieve it.”
Wopat didn’t mean no harm, but it seems that was just a little bit more than the law would allow.
