Chelsea Handler’s Netflix Show Cancelled
Even though Netflix is raising rates and adding more original content, they have cancelled several shows recently as well.
Among the casualties this week are The Get Down, Girlboss, Gyspsy, Sense8 and Chelsea Handler’s talk show.
In a statement on Twitter, Handler explained why she is no longer moving forward with the show: “Like so many across the country, the past presidential election and the countless events that have unfolded since have galvanized me. From the national level down to the grassroots, it’s clear our decisions at the ballot box next year will mark a defining moment for our nation.”
For those reasons she has decided to put an end to her daily show, to, “instead devote as much time as I can to becoming a more knowledgeable and engaged citizen and to focus on projects that have significance to me.”
Chelsea says her goal is to “be better informed, raise my voice, and participate in a more meaningful way.” She also says that she would like to travel the country “and visit areas and people I don’t know enough about, speak at colleges and listen to students, and gain a better understanding of our political divide.”
Netflix is reportedly planning on making a serious investment into original content in the next year. The company has announced they are investing $8 billion into more content.
Will you be keeping your Netflix account, or is it time to give them the boot?
