Did you know today is National Beer Day?

According to a recent survey, 69% of Americans drink 2 or more bottles of beer per week.  That’s over 100 beers per person per year!

To conduct the National Today Beer Day Survey, the researchers asked 1,100 American adults about their feelings on beer.

Almost half (45%) of Americans report drinking beer.  One in 3 Americans prefer imported beer, while the majority (67%) usually opt for domestic.

So WHY is today National Beer Day?  On April 7, 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt took the major first step toward ending Prohibition and signed a law allowing people to brew and distribute beer in the United States. Upon signing the legislation, FDR famously stated, “I think this would be a good time for a beer.” For the first time in 13 years, beer drinkers celebrated and were happy to be able to purchase beer again.  On that same day, 1.5 million barrels of beer were consumed, inspiring the holiday celebrated today.

For all you beer lovers out there – remember, always drink responsibly and never drink and drive. So, take a toast with us by celebrating National Beer Day today, Cheers!
