Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?  Jonathan Schwartz, the manager who embezzled millions of dollars from Alanis Morissette and other celebrities will spend the next 6 years in prison.

Schwartz pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges and filing false tax returns earlier this year.  At his sentencing yesterday he asked for leniency but was made to serve 6 years behind bars and 2,000 hours of community service.

He admitted to taking almost $5 million from Alanis and another $2 million from 5 other clients.

U.S. District Court Judge Dolly Gee said, “Given the magnitude of defendant’s crimes and the losses he has inflicted, the year-and-a-day sentence defendant proposes would be a ‘slap on the wrist’ that belittles the harms suffered by his victims and fails to provide them with justice.”

Schwartz was also ordered to pay back $8.7 million in restitution to the clients he stole from.

We hope “You Learn” from this, Jonathan.  You should have kept your hand in your own pockets.
