It’s Official: ‘Roseanne’ Returns For 8 Episodes
Twenty years after Roseanne signed off, it appears ABC is bringing it back. The Connor family will be all grown up as the network announced the series is a go. Network president Channing Dungey confirmed the plans while on a conference call with reporters today.
“We’re rebooting Roseanne,” she said. “It is planned for the midseason. We’re still at the early stages.” Per the network’s press release, the 8 episode reboot will find the Connors continuing to deal with “the economic challenges of living pay check to pay check in 2018.”
The original stars Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman will all be returning (even though Goodman’s character, Dan passed away at the end of Season 8.) Sarah Chalke played Becky on the original, but it is reported that she will play a different role on the new show. (Talk about weird.)
The original series ran for 9 seasons from 1988 to 1997. Are you excited about the show making a return, or would you rather watch something new instead of every time you turn around getting an old show thrown back in your face? What’s next? Urkel returns to Family Matters? What happened to Cousin Larry and Balki on Perfect Strangers? The world wants to know.
and WOW we found Balki and Cousin Larry on Twitter.
This beautiful shot of my brother-in-arms MLB is so telling. We didn't realize that the photo of our younger selves was in the background. pic.twitter.com/VbG9mURpyZ
