Pepsi Pulls Kendall Jenner Commercial After Backlash
Pepsi has decided to pull its most recent commercial featuring Kendall Jenner.
In the ad, Kendall is seen approaching a police officer and handing him a can of Pepsi at what could be a political rally. The commercial received a lot of negative comments on social media.
At first the company defended the ad in a statement, but then decided to remove it. “This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.”
This morning they changed their mind as the ad was removed from their YouTube channel.
Within the last hour, Pepsi released the following statement on Twitter: “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has not yet commented on the negative comments.
