Barry Manilow Confirms Marriage
Some belated ‘Congratulations’ are in order for Barry Manilow!
Even though the news came out in 2015 that he had married his longtime partner, the superstar has never openly discussed his personal life, until now.
In a new interview with People Magazine, Barry reveals he didn’t want to come out as gay because he thought fans would be disappointed, but he’s delighted to find out they’re happy for him.
The “I Write The Songs” singer announced he has been with his partner Garry Keif since 1978.
Garry became Barry’s manager and the head of his production company. They’ve been together for 39 years, but they have never spoken about their relationship.
The two officially tied the knot at their Palm Springs home 3 years ago. There were rumors of a wedding about a year later but Barry never acknowledged it.
In the People interview he said, “I thought I would be disappointing them if they knew I was gay. So I never did anything. When they found out that Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful — strangers commenting, ‘Great for you!’ I’m just so grateful for it.”
We are happy for you, as well, Barry! Whatever makes you happy! Looks like you made it!
