Some people may call Rosie O’Donnell a comedian, but there isn’t much funny business in her personal life.

For example, the recent suicide of her ex-wife, Michelle Rounds.

According to Rosie, the death was not Rounds’ first attempt at suicide.  She tells Extra, “There was a time in September 2015” when she also attempted to take her own life.  “You think love has the answer. But mental illness has no say.”

Aside from the death of Michelle, Rosie also says her estranged daughter Chelsea is battling mental illness as well. “She’s married now and on her own, but it was very difficult to find the help that she needed.”

When it comes to her own mental health, Rosie doesn’t have a problem admitting she’s on antidepressants. She says in 1999 after the Columbine High School shootings, “I went on medication and I’ve been on it ever since.  For me, it works in my life. For me, it’s been a life jacket at times when I felt like swimming down, so for me, it’s something that we have to take the stigma away from.”
