Larry King has thanked his fans who are sending him well wishes after he announced he has lung cancer.  The 83 year old former CNN host received the diagnosis during a routine visit with his doctor over the Summer.

Luckily for Larry it was caught early and he had surgery to remove the tumor on July 17th.

Larry, who used to smoke, but quit back in the 1980s when he had a heart attack, would like to use his experience to teach others.

In an interview with Us Weekly he said, “When you are [getting] a checkup, get a chest X-ray because lung cancer ain’t going to tell you it’s there, but a simple chest X-ray will.  If it shows you one little spot, you will do a CAT scan. They are all painless.”

Good advice from someone who knows.  Get well soon, Larry!
