Disney Channel Introduces First Gay Character

The Disney Channel is taking a giant leap forward when it comes to LGBT representation.
The network has announced it will feature it’s first ever gay character and storyline.
The Hollywood Reporter says, in the upcoming season 2 premiere of Andi Mack, the title character will try and figure out her feelings for one of her classmates, Jonah. At the same time, Cyrus will discover he has feelings for that same classmate.
The episode will air tonight at 8 pm Eastern. The producers behind the scenes of the show say they consulted with child development experts and screened the episode for for several organizations, including GLAAD and PFLAG.
